Our Projects

2010-11 is a busy year for the Academy.

These are just some of the exciting projects we have lined up next:

Saturday 9th October 2010 - 90 Years of Music

The Academy students from both branches came together to perform in a Gala concert to celebrate the Academy's second birthday, and our wonderful Patron's eighty-fifth birthday. Featuring songs from 1920-2010, it was a fantastic evening.  Well done to all involved

17th December 2010 - Belle

The Langstone Senior students had been working hard throughout the early part of 2010 to write a new musical based on Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and were involved with every aspect of its production. With familiar storylines, and a new, exciting twist, the performance was well-received and the young people involved gave fantastic performances!

10h April 2011/1st June 2011 - Sparkle and Shine

The Llanover students joined forces with Cor Y Fenni, the Abergavenny non-profit community youth choir, to perform a new musical.  Sparkle and Shine! is based on the themes of tolerance, respect and friendship in aid of South Wales Charity The Sparkle Appeal and raised a fantastic £160.  Furthermore, on 1st June, Academy students from our three branches joined together with Cor Casnewydd and Cor Y Fenni to record the musical's official soundtrack.  232 copies of the musical will now be made available free of charge to every primary school from Blaenau Gwent, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.  Contact us for more information.

Sunday 17th July 2011- Summer Extravaganza

The Academy students from all three branches will join together to perform in a spectacular Summer Extravaganza.  The show will take place at The Congress Theatre, Cwmbran at 7pm.  Tickets cost just £6, with all proceeds supporting subsidised performing arts activities throughout S. Wales.

July 25th-29th 2011 - The Brothers Three

Young people aged 4-11 from Abergavenny will have the opportunity to stage a show from scratch in one week.  Based on the famous tale, The Brothers Three explores the story of the three little pigs and their battle with the big bad wolf.  The workshop will take place from July 25th-29th.  Contact us to register your interest, and watch this space for more information...
